A house in Al Garage to act as an administrative center for all the projects. Most houses here are three story with a roof terrace.
Everything would be charged for to make the center pay for itself, after initial start-up.
Internet Server
Base for the internet provision project for the villages. Antenna on the roof could supply high-bandwidth connection up to Igourdane and the permaculture center. A server inside the building could provide all necessary services (mail etc). It would also serve the Business Centre (see below) via a local network.
Business Center
- Administrative Office for the overall project.
- office and address whereby a co-op of the villagers could act as their own middleman, and thus sell produce to the big towns. They will need their own lorry for this.
- Base of operations for the export of herbs, spices, incense etc. and online store.
- Public internet access and use of the transport should be avoided as this would conflict with other local businesses.
Accommodation
Accommodation for the initial permaculture building course students – there will not be accommodation up there until the center is built, and we found that putting people up in villagers’ houses, although perhaps welcome financially, would place too much of a burden culturally. A small number of the students could stay with villagers but that could cause problems if they can’t all do it.
Urban PC Demo
Most houses in Al Garage have very little garden space, only a few sq meters average, if any. But they have roof terraces, and walls. Ideal for a permaculture design demonstration. If we can eventually build a house there, we can incorporate design into the building itself as well.
Transport
This would be the base for a land rover and possibly a van, which could be used by all our businesses and by Sahara Forest as required. A simple booking system would do.

hi, good job
it s a plaisir to do that in my town ,have you initiate the project or not yet ?,i hope a good contunuation
Hi Rayan, we’re starting building of a school and permaculture center at Igourdane (well, Ikhef Nissiki) first. This will get us publicity and funding we need to make the rest happen. It should be built by the spring, and we’ll start valley restoration there also.
