Welcome

Saharaforest.org is a co-ordinated effort using permaculture to restore the entire Sahara Desert to a thriving, fertile place where people can live in abundance once again.  The project was introduced to the 2011 All-Ireland Permaculture Gathering in Wicklow by Sarah Franklyn in August.

It is funded by direct sponsorship, whereby 100% of sponsors’ money goes directly to a person, who is part of the wider project. Each family does permaculture on their own land, and the community as a whole can reverse the process of desertification. Later on, it iwll be possible to negotiate for funding such as the carbon credits system from a position of strength because the community doesn’t depend on such funding.

In time this map will show all the places mentioned in the site. There is also a .kmz file you can download  and open with google earth, which works better, google maps formatting is not as good for this.
